The Nitecore EDC27 tactical flashlight has a unique design compared to most everyday carry flashlights. While it is not as small as a keychain flashlight, it is shiny, slim, and fits perfectly in your pocket.
You can use this size flashlight in many ways, such as for personal safety, outdoor use, emergency use, or just to see in a dimly lit area. In my EDC27 review, I will review the package quality, lumens, build quality, how to operate it, its key features, and more.

Unboxing and Package Quality
The Nitecore EDC27 LED flashlight comes in a simple and small black package, showing a picture of the flashlight on the front, some of the specifications on the side, and more information on the back of the package. Inside the easy-to-open package, you get the following items:
- The Nitecore EDC27 flashlight
- USB-C charger cord
- Warranty card
The first thing that catches my attention when looking at the EDC27 flashlight is its sleek and slim design. The flashlight’s body is made of stainless steel in both the front and rear.
The pocket clip is flexible and is not stiff. The flashlight feels light and is a compact size, making it a great EDC flashlight.
The top of the flashlight has an icon on it that warns it is hot. I have to say, I’m glad that the warning is there because the flashlight is extremely hot in that section when it is in use. There is an OLED display on the tail end of the flashlight.
The Nitecore EDC27 in Use – How to Operate
I love how this flashlight feels so slim and light, which is different from most EDC flashlights. It feels similar to the Streamlight Wedge because of its slim design.
The flashlight easily fits in my pocket, but it also can be clipped onto you using the pocket clip. If you prefer not to put it in your pocket or attach it to yourself, you can also link the lanyard to the pocket clip and wear it around your neck.
This flashlight has two mode buttons. The first switch, which sticks out, is the power button and controls the main modes. The other switch, which does not stick out and is even with the flashlight’s body, holds the strobe and turbo special modes.
Both of these switches don’t feel like a typical switch. The switches are more clicky than most and do not resist when pressed. It is best to lock out the light when carrying the flashlight because it can be easily turned on by accident.
There are two different kinds of lockouts with the EDC27. There is Half Lockout Mode, which still allows you to be turbo mode and strobe ready. Then, there is Lockout 2, which is a full lockout mode. The OLED display is on most Nitecore flashlights, showing the output level, remaining battery, and battery voltage, which can be helpful.
